Finding the Right Live Music for Your Event

I think live music works best when it feels like it belongs at the event. A wedding ceremony, a corporate function and a relaxed afternoon gathering can all benefit from live performance, but the right sound for each one is going to be quite different.

I play guitar, piano and keys, and I sing as well. Guitar has always been my main instrument, but I've spent years exploring different types of music and I really enjoy changing how I play to suit the setting. Sometimes a simple melody or a quieter arrangement is exactly what the moment needs. Other times you want something with more energy.

Think about the atmosphere first

Before worrying too much about a set list, it helps to think about what you want people to feel. Is the music going to sit in the background while everyone talks, or is it something you want guests to stop and listen to? Are there particular songs that mean something to you? Those details are much more useful than just saying you want 'live music'.

I love a wide range of styles, from rock and blues to jazz, classical music and more. That doesn't mean every song or every arrangement will suit every event. Part of the conversation is finding out which direction actually makes sense.

The practical side matters too

The size of the space, whether it's indoors or outdoors, the available power and the schedule all affect what's possible. If the event has several different parts, it's helpful to know when you'd like music and what kind of setup is available. We can discuss the details before making any commitments.

Have something in mind?

If you're planning an event in Victoria, tell me a bit about it: where it is, what you're organising, and the atmosphere you're hoping for. I'm happy to discuss what music might work and whether I'm the right fit.
